Donald Trump recently shared a long and rather unusual post on Truth Social, where he described his past interactions with Apple CEO Tim Cook in a way that quickly caught attention.
According to Trump, their relationship started with a phone call early in his presidency. He claimed Cook reached out with what he described as a “serious problem” that only the president could resolve. Trump went on to portray the moment in a characteristically boastful way, saying he was impressed to receive the call and even joked that Cook was calling to “kiss my a**.”
What stands out is that Trump never clarified what the issue actually was. He mentioned helping Cook multiple times referring to “three or four big helps” but didn’t provide any specifics about what those situations involved or how they were resolved. That lack of detail has left a lot of room for interpretation.
Despite the colorful language, Trump also praised Cook extensively. He credited him with leading Apple to remarkable success and suggested the company may not have reached the same heights if Steve Jobs had remained at the helm. He described Cook as an “amazing manager and leader” and emphasized that their working relationship was productive, even if Cook could sometimes be “too aggressive” in his requests.
The timing of the post is also notable. It came shortly after reports that John Ternus would take over as Apple’s CEO, marking the end of Cook’s 15-year tenure. Trump’s message reads partly like a tribute but it’s mixed with his usual self-congratulatory storytelling style, which tends to draw both criticism and skepticism.
