Sunday's Oval Office event was supposed to spotlight mothers. Instead, it became the latest chapter in Trump's ongoing war of words with political opponents and this time, he came armed with a new nickname.
Fox News broke away from regular programming to carry the event live, where Trump, now 79, announced a fresh fertility benefit option for American workers and introduced Moms.gov, a dedicated resource for new and expectant mothers. It was a policy moment with a warm, family-friendly feel until the president started improvising.
"The Dumbocrats"
Unprompted, Trump pivoted from maternal health to political grievance, launching into a riff about how Democrats never support him, no matter what he does.
"I was hunted by some very bad people," he told reporters. "And now I am the hunter. It's much better when you are the hunter."
He went on to claim that not a single Democrat vote could be expected in Congress, regardless of how strong the legislation. "I don't know how they get away with it," he said before landing on his new label. "That's why we call them the 'Dumbocrats.' Because they're dumb. They just can't do it."
He even threw in a prediction: "I've been waiting for them to change. But they just keep losing. And they're going to keep losing with their policies."
Social Media Didn't Hold Back
The remarks landed hard on social media, and not in Trump's favor at least not among critics.
"The sitting president of the United States is an embarrassing toddler-like moron," one user fired off on X.
Another wrote, "Our classless president and his inauthentic followers. Who are the dumb ones? Everyone who supports him!"
A third user took a broader swipe: "He is actually the dumb one, who has turned the USA into a global laughing stock."
Not everyone was appalled, though. At least one supporter enthusiastically backed the nickname and even pitched an upgrade "Dumbocrats is a great name! Mr. President, you should think about calling them Demoncrats. It's pretty good too."
Iran Gets a Blunt Assessment Too
The maternal health event wasn't the only place Trump stirred the pot. Earlier in the day, he had also unloaded on Iran's latest peace proposal, calling it "stupid" in front of reporters setting a tone that carried into the Oval Office briefing.
When the conversation turned to the fragile ceasefire situation in the Middle East, Trump did not mince words. He described the proposal Iran had submitted as "a piece of garbage" and said he couldn't even bring himself to finish reading it.
"It's unbelievably weak," he said bluntly. "I would call it the weakest after reading that piece of garbage they sent. I didn't even bother finishing it. I'm not going to waste my time. It's on life support."
Trump also claimed that Iran had walked back earlier signals about giving up its stockpile of enriched uranium, accusing the country of changing its position after initially showing some flexibility.
The remarks added another layer of tension to already complicated nuclear negotiations and once again, a moment meant for one headline became something far bigger.
The only thing you hunt is Big Macs you miserable piece of shit!
