Lip readers have become an unexpected window into the private lives of public figures, and this time, one has turned her attention toward a conversation between President Trump and his son Eric. The setting was the LIV Golf Virginia tournament at Trump's own golf club last Saturday an event the president attended just days after making an appearance at the PGA Tour's Cadillac Championship down in Miami.
Cameras captured the two men talking through bulletproof glass, visibly engaged in what looked like a personal discussion. Enter Nicola Hickling a self-described profoundly deaf professional lip reader with over 20 years under her belt who claims she was able to make out the gist of their exchange.
"He's Experimenting" What the Lip Reader Claims She Saw
According to Hickling, Trump opened the conversation on a stressed note, allegedly saying something along the lines of, "I got all this stress… Here's what I gotta do." He then appeared to raise concerns about Barron directly, questioning his son's choices with lines like, "If you wanna go, do it I'd say you're too young for that," and "What is he rushing into?"
Hickling claims Eric jumped in at that point, seemingly trying to put things in perspective by telling his father that Barron is just being a typical teenager "He is like a teen, he's experimenting," Eric allegedly said.
Trump reportedly responded with a simple "Absolutely," though he didn't seem entirely at ease. Hickling suggests Eric pushed a little further, urging his father that he needed to speak to Barron directly. Trump's response, according to her reading? A calm but measured, "He'll come round." He then placed a hand on Eric's shoulder and added, "You know, I don't think he will see it. And chose this moment."
It's worth noting, of course, that lip reading even by experienced professionals is not a perfect science. There's no audio to verify these claims, and the White House has not commented on the interpretation.
The "Little Boy" Comment That Also Raised Eyebrows
This isn't the first time Barron has found himself at the center of an awkward public moment involving his father. Just recently, during a White House ceremony held in the East Room to honor military mothers, Trump took a moment to praise Melania calling her an "incredible mom" and a standout First Lady.
But it was his description of Barron that got people talking. Standing before an audience, Trump referred to his youngest who reportedly towers at 6 feet 9 inches and is currently enrolled at New York University as "a little boy."
"She has a little boy who's quite tall!" Trump said, drawing laughter from those in attendance. He quickly clarified, "A little boy to us, but he's quite tall. And he's great, Barron." The comment was clearly meant with warmth, but the internet wasn't entirely ready to let it slide.
The Internet Reacts
Social media had a field day. Some found the remark genuinely sweet a father who still sees his grown son as his kid. Others were less charitable. "All the president knows about his own son is that he's tall," one user quipped. Another pointed out a pattern many had already noticed: "Why does he always say 'she' or 'her son' instead of 'our son'?"
Whether the golf club conversation was as loaded as the lip reader suggests, or simply a casual chat between a father and son, it's clear that anything involving Barron Trump tends to attract attention. The teenager now a college student navigating adulthood in one of the most scrutinized families in the world remains a figure the public is endlessly curious about, even as those around him try to keep his life relatively private.
