Donald Trump health fears soar as 'barely conscious' US president falls asleep live on air

The cameras were rolling at the Pennsylvania Defence and Innovation Summit when President Trump appeared to drift off while sitting on a panel beside Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. Hegseth was in the middle of laying into the previous administration's approach to the Department of War, telling the room that companies used to have to fight their way in through lawsuits just to get a seat at the table a system he says has completely changed under Trump's leadership.

It was, on paper, a moment where Trump was being given credit for reshaping the department. But instead of engaging with the praise, he seemed to be somewhere else entirely struggling to keep his eyes open as the cameras captured the moment for broadcast.

Social Media Reacts And They Didn't Hold Back

Clips of the moment spread fast across X, and reactions ranged from mocking to genuinely concerned. One user joked that tracking when Trump isn't asleep would be the more efficient approach at this point. Someone else suggested a nickname for his schedule built entirely around midday naps.

Not everyone piled on, though. A few people pushed back gently, arguing that if he's visibly losing the battle to stay awake, maybe the length of these events is the real problem. Others leaned into dark humor, with one comment dubbing him "Don Snoreleone" and linking his daytime drowsiness to his habit of posting late into the night. Someone even did a bit of tongue-in-cheek math, calculating that dozing for a minute out of every ten adds up to a power nap every hour. And at least one person joked about waking him up just to tell him this whole second term has been one long dream.

Not the First Time and Not the Last Headline Either

This isn't a one-off. Over the past few weeks, Trump has been caught mid-nap at public events on more than one occasion, and each time it happens, concerns about his health resurface online.

The NATO summit in Turkey earlier this month gave people plenty to talk about too. In one widely shared clip, Turkish President Recep Erdogan welcomes Trump, who then seems to wander off course entirely walking away from where the press microphones were set up, apparently unsure of where he was supposed to be. Erdogan had to physically take his hand and guide him back into position.

Later that same day, another clip showed Trump appearing to doze off while seated across from Erdogan during a joint press appearance. About 40 seconds in, he appears to jolt back awake as Erdogan continues speaking, seemingly unbothered by the pause.

And just days before that, Trump made headlines for seemingly falling asleep during Fourth of July festivities a clip that also picked up significant traction online at the time.

With each new appearance, the pattern seems to be repeating itself, and it's keeping the conversation about the president's health and stamina firmly in the spotlight.
