Trump's "Sir" Story Draws Skepticism Online
The comment came in the middle of a rally speech, and it was the kind of aside that is easy to miss in a long event. But once clips landed on X, the word "Sir" became the main talking point.
According to the remarks shared online, Trump said his wife had asked him for a small favour. He then explained she wanted him to say "vee-gan" rather than "vay-gan." He also admitted he doesn't follow that sort of thing, saying it isn't his area. Even so, he said Talarico had announced out of nowhere that he was now a vegan.
How X Users Responded
Reaction was quick, and much of it was doubtful. Several users said the idea of Melania calling her husband "Sir" didn't ring true.
One person wrote that stories involving "Sir" are always fake, and that this one took it a step further. Another joked that even in his own telling, Trump's wife sounds like a customer service agent. A third simply asked who actually believes she addresses him that way. A fourth suggested that whenever Trump starts a sentence with "Sir," a tall tale is about to follow.
A fifth user went further, arguing the habit comes from a need for self-reassurance. They claimed Trump believes the people who matter to him see him as a fool, and that outside opinion matters more to him than the praise of his supporters. That is an opinion from a social media user, not an established fact.
More Jabs at Talarico
Trump didn't stop with the vegan remark. He kept going after Talarico, repeatedly calling him "Talafreako." He also criticised the Democrat's policies, saying they would hurt both Texas and the country. Reports note, however, that he misrepresented most of those policies.
At one point he told the crowd that Talarico hadn't been seen in a couple of weeks. He said he'd heard the man had "disappeared" and that nobody knew where he was. Then came the punchline. According to Trump, Talarico was sick because he was being forced to eat meat for political reasons, and was throwing up as a result. He added that everyone had been searching for him for two weeks.
What It Means for the Race
The Texas Senate race is drawing national attention, and rallies like this one show how personal the campaign has become. Trump's mocking tone and nicknames are familiar parts of his style, and they tend to energise supporters while drawing sharp criticism from opponents.
For now, the "Sir" comment has become the part of the speech getting the most attention online. Whether Melania really uses the word at home is something only the couple can say, but the internet has clearly made up its mind.
