Donald Trump shares shocking video of fatal tiger attack with five-word message

Emergency services were called to the park shortly after 1.30pm on October 10. Police confirmed that Mr Chapman had been visiting alone when he entered the tiger enclosure. He died at the scene.

The park has stayed closed since the incident. City of Doncaster Council has opened a health and safety investigation into how the death happened. Yorkshire Wildlife Park has also confirmed that the tiger involved will not be put down and is safe and well.

Trump’s Posts on Truth Social

The incident became a talking point beyond the UK after Trump shared a short video of the attack on his Truth Social account. He signed the post with the message “Don’t ever mess with nature!”

The clip reportedly shows the tiger biting and clawing the man inside the enclosure. It does not show the moment he died. Soon afterwards, Trump put up another post, a video compilation that appeared to show other people being attacked by lions, played over a cheerful soundtrack.

The posts came on the same day Mr Chapman’s family released a public statement about their loss, which will likely add to the discomfort many readers feel about the timing and tone of the videos.

The Family’s Tribute

In their statement, William’s family described him as a bright, warm and engaging young man who was deeply loved and loved them in return. They said they were devastated and struggling to come to terms with what had happened.

The family also shared that William had suffered from significant mental illness over a number of years and had been prescribed strong medication. They said they hope the relevant authorities will do everything they can to establish why their son acted as he did.

What Happens Next

The council’s health and safety investigation will look into the circumstances of the incident. Separately, a coroner will decide whether William’s mental illness played a part in his death.

Until those processes are complete, many questions remain unanswered. For now, the focus for those closest to him is grieving a son and loved one, while the park stays shut and investigators continue their work.
