Melania Trump 'won't forget' Queen Camilla gift snub but won't make a 'public issue of it'

The brooch swap heard 'round the world may not have made front-page headlines in a traditional sense, but it's certainly sparked plenty of conversation about royal etiquette, diplomatic optics, and even the stars.

What Actually Happened

When King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived at the White House for their state visit, they were welcomed by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump with considerable fanfare. As the visit drew to a close, Camilla was seen wearing a vintage diamond and ruby Tiffany & Co. brooch a piece with a delicate floral design worth a staggering $40,700 that Melania had personally gifted her during the royals' own visit to Washington back in September.

On the surface, wearing the brooch during their goodbye felt like the perfect diplomatic touch. A quiet but meaningful acknowledgment of Melania's generosity.

Then came Arlington.

Once the royals departed the White House and made their way to Arlington National Cemetery, eagle-eyed observers noticed that Camilla had swapped Melania's Tiffany brooch for a Cartier one a piece that carried its own symbolic weight, depicting both the British and American flags side by side. Thoughtful for the occasion, certainly, but the timing of the switch raised eyebrows across social media almost immediately.

Protocol or a Subtle Snub?

Royal watchers were divided. Some argued the change was entirely in line with standard royal protocol, where specific pieces are chosen for specific ceremonial occasions. Others felt it came across as a bit of an awkward slight as if Melania's gift had been worn just long enough to tick a box before being set aside.

No official explanation was offered, and the Palace stayed characteristically quiet on the matter.

What the Stars Say

Into this swirling debate stepped astrology expert Tracy Higgs, who offered a rather interesting take when speaking to the Irish Star.

According to Higgs, the two women are actually far more compatible than most people would assume. "Melania is a Taurus and Camilla is a Cancer two signs that often value loyalty, privacy, and stability over theatrics or attention-seeking," she explained, adding that both women seem to share a deep awareness of image, self-control, and the weight of public duty.

"I personally feel there's a mutual understanding between them when it comes to duty and public pressure," Higgs said. "Neither woman strikes me as somebody who enjoys unnecessary drama."

But compatibility doesn't mean frictionless, and Higgs was candid about where things could get complicated.

"Where I feel they could potentially clash is emotionally," she noted. "Taurus energy can be very guarded and incredibly stubborn, while Cancer energy tends to be more emotionally led and sensitive underneath the surface."

In practical terms, that could mean Melania might find Camilla's responses a little too emotionally colored, while Camilla, for her part, might struggle to get a clear read on the First Lady's inner world.

Taurus Never Forgets Even If She Never Says a Word

Perhaps the most striking part of Higgs' analysis was her insight into how Melania might privately process the brooch moment.

"Taurus personalities do tend to notice gestures and manners deeply even if they never openly react to them," Higgs said. "I don't believe Melania would make a public issue of it, but internally she may well have seen it as lacking warmth or appreciation."

She went on to add that Taurus energy rarely lets go of moments that feel dismissive, especially when effort, symbolism, or respect are involved. That said, Higgs was also quick to acknowledge Melania's famously composed public persona. "Any feelings about it would remain very private," she concluded.

A Brooch With Its Own Story

Interestingly, the Cartier brooch that Camilla switched to isn't just any piece of jewelry. It was originally presented to the late Queen Elizabeth II back in 1957 by Robert F. Wagner Jr., who served as the Mayor of New York at the time. The brooch eventually passed to Camilla, making it a historically layered choice one perhaps more suited to an occasion honoring the shared history of Britain and America.

Gift Diplomacy, Royally Handled

Gift exchanges are a well-established part of state visit tradition, and this trip was no exception. When Melania visited London last September, she brought the Tiffany brooch for Camilla. Camilla reciprocated with an Anya Hindmarch handbag and a handcrafted silver and enamel bowl by artist Cara Murphy.

For this latest visit, King Charles kept the tradition going by presenting President Trump with the bell from HMS Trump a British submarine that served during World War II, a nod both personal and historically resonant.

Whether the brooch swap was a diplomatic misstep, a matter of royal scheduling, or simply a non-issue blown out of proportion, one thing seems certain the moment has already taken on a life of its own. And if the astrologers are right, Melania may have quietly clocked it all without ever saying a single word.
