Melania Trump skips Lindsey Graham funeral as First Lady nowhere to be seen

Melania Trump's Absence at Lindsey Graham's Funeral Raises Eyebrows

The funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham drew a full lineup of Washington's political heavyweights this week, but one notable figure was missing from the pews: First Lady Melania Trump.

President Trump took to the podium to honor his longtime ally and friend, delivering remarks at the service held in the nation's capital. Seated near him were Vice President JD Vance, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and the president's son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lara Trump. Melania, however, was nowhere in sight.

A Year of Staying Out of the Spotlight

This isn't an isolated incident. The First Lady has pulled back considerably from public life over the past several months, and there's a specific reason many believe is driving that shift: mounting concern over her personal safety.

Reports have surfaced pointing to a disturbing campaign originating from Iran. Tasnim News Agency an outlet with ties to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps put out a video generated using artificial intelligence that laid out details about Melania's movements, including places she's known to shop. The footage went further, sketching out scenarios for how someone hoping to do her harm might exploit that information.

The video itself is unsettling in its specificity. A narrator speaking Farsi walks through various "plots" while the visuals overlay maps showing both the President and First Lady, complete with their Secret Service code names and notes on how law enforcement typically secures their travel routes.

According to the narrator, the material featured in the clip was pieced together using intelligence gathered from unnamed security sources and satellite imagery though the accuracy of that claim hasn't been independently verified.

Poisoning Plots and Fashion as a "Weakness"

Perhaps most disturbing is a segment suggesting that so-called "freedom fighters" could carry out a poisoning attempt, taking advantage of venues the First Lady is known to frequent. The video also took aim at her interest in fashion, framing her shopping habits as a potential vulnerability even floating the idea that someone could use bribery tied to her retail preferences as a way to get close to her.

Threatening Billboards Appear Across Tehran

The video isn't the only alarming development. Billboards have started popping up on bridges and buildings throughout Tehran, carrying explicit messages calling for the deaths of Trump and members of his family.

One such billboard displayed images of two of his children, Ivanka and Barron, alongside a photo of Melania all three shown with their eyes closed and the word "KILLED" stamped across the top in red lettering. The billboard included a direct message aimed at Trump: "Hey, Terrorist! Get ready to die."

Another billboard spotted this week showed a red "MAGA" cap paired with an illustration depicting Trump with blood streaming from his head. A third piece of imagery, also AI-generated, portrayed Trump alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio all submerged in a pool of blood.

What This Means Going Forward

Given the scale and specificity of these threats, it's not surprising that Melania Trump appears to be exercising extra caution these days. Her decision to skip a high-profile public event like Graham's funeral fits a broader pattern of reduced public appearances that's been evident for months now.

Whether these threats lead to any further security measures or whether Melania continues to stay largely out of view remains to be seen. For now, her absence from Tuesday's service speaks volumes about the seriousness with which these threats appear to be treated behind the scenes.
