Body language expert Dr. Beth Dawson broke down Melania's reaction for Reach PLC, and it's more layered than it might first appear. According to Dawson, Melania's initial response reads as authentic delight a genuine smile as her husband starts singing her praises. But as he keeps talking, something shifts.
"As he continues to talk about her, we see her face change slightly and take on an inquisitive look probably indicating she's listening to what he is going to say," Dawson explained. She pointed to subtle cues a slight tilt of the head, a tightening around the facial muscles as signs of quiet unease.
"It's barely perceptible but we see a slight head tilt to show she's listening carefully and her facial muscles are slightly more tense than earlier. I think this is linked to her not being sure of what he's going to say," Dawson added.
Her overall read: Melania wasn't upset, exactly, but she also wasn't fully at ease. "I would interpret this as a moment of increased attention and some uncertainty or anticipation. She is listening closely because she doesn't yet know where his comments are going. There is a contrast here with the initial broad genuine smile," Dawson said.

Not everyone bought the speech at face value. Longtime Trump critic and author Michael Wolff suggested there might be more to it, floating the idea that it ties into a project she's reportedly developing for Amazon.
Speaking on the Daily Beast's podcast, Wolff laid out his theory: "She has this show coming up on Amazon. I think it's effectively a series of many Melania shows which they are probably now filming and they probably thought, 'Oh let's have her talk about AI for this show, that will give her substance.' So this is probably a set-up, which she will then monetize."
